June 14, 2025 — Pixar has officially pulled back the curtain on Toy Story 5, revealing first-look footage, plot details, and a release date during the Annecy International Animation Festival in France.
The beloved franchise will return to theaters on June 19, 2026, promising another emotionally rich and visually stunning adventure.
✨ A New Chapter: Tech vs. Toys
The sequel explores timely themes as Bonnie, now eight, grows more attached to digital devices—particularly a tablet character named Lily Pad, who appears to be a key antagonist. Pixar’s creative team is aiming to contrast the warm familiarity of classic toys with modern technology’s growing influence.
In one standout sequence revealed at Annecy, Buzz Lightyear is shown washed up on a remote beach, surrounded by other Buzz action figures who still believe they are Star Command recruits. Meanwhile, Jessie leads Bonnie’s toy group until Woody returns from his journey, sparking friction and emotional conflict between old friends.
🎙 Returning and New Voice Stars
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are back as Woody and Buzz, respectively.
Joan Cusack returns as Jessie, now a central leader in Bonnie’s room.
Ernie Hudson replaces Carl Weathers as Combat Carl.
Anna Faris and Conan O’Brien are joining the cast in new roles, including O’Brien’s character “Smarty Pants.”
