May 28, 2025 — Deborra-Lee Furness has publicly addressed the emotional aftermath of her separation from actor Hugh Jackman, describing the end of their 27-year marriage as a “profound wound that cuts deep.” The couple’s divorce has now been finalized, bringing an official close to one of Hollywood’s most enduring relationships.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE and the Daily Mail, Furness, 69, reflected on the pain of the split, characterizing it as a personal betrayal that challenged her sense of identity and trust. “There are no winners in this kind of heartbreak,” she said, adding, “but adversity often reveals our greatest strength.”
Furness and Jackman, 56, met in 1995 on the set of the Australian drama Correlli and married the following year. Together, they adopted two children: Oscar, now 24, and Ava, 19. In September 2023, the couple jointly announced their separation, stating the decision was made to allow each other “to grow individually.”
Sources close to the couple revealed that despite the amicable tone of their public announcement, the behind-the-scenes process has been far more emotionally charged.
